Executive Board

2013-2014 Executive Board

President—Amy Ouellette

AmyHi everyone! My name is Amy Ouellette and I am a senior here at Salem State.  I am a communications major with a public relations concentration and a marketing minor.  I am a non-traditional student and my desire to finish my bachelor’s degree and major in communications came after a few life experiences pointed me in this direction.  I joined PRSSA in the fall of 2011, my first semester at SSU, and have loved it ever since.  I was a part of the 2012 Bateman Case Study competition team working on a campaign to combat childhood obesity and our team won a bronze Bell Ringer award for a public affairs campaign from the Publicity Club of New England.  I was also the recipient of the 2012 PRSA Boston student scholarship and was also a communications intern in the Registrar’s Office here on campus last year.

In my rare free time, I enjoy family time with my two children, my husband and our two dogs.  I love a good bike ride, whether I’m riding the bike paths of Salem and Marblehead or at my favorite spin class at the YMCA.  If you want to reach out, I can be reached at amy.ouellette76@gmail.com or on Twitter at @amyouellette13.

Vice President of Chapter Development—Shannon Szypko

ShannonHi guys! My name is Shannon Szypko and I’m a senior at SSU. My major is communications with a concentration in public relations and my minor is marketing. I transferred here in my sophomore year from upstate New York. I’ve been a PRSSA member since I joined the SSU community and I love the opportunities it has given me, and the great people I’ve met and become friends with! In my dream world I will land an awesome job right after graduation at an agency in Boston. If that doesn’t happen, I’m excited to begin a journey somewhere else (maybe somewhere a bit warmer)!

I enjoy spending my free time outdoors, whether it’s summer or winter. I love spending time with my family and friends, and am a huge animal lover.  I’m also a huge Grey’s Anatomy nerd. I can be reached at shannonszypko@gmail.com or on Twitter at @s_szypko.

I transferred to Salem State last year from Bunker Hill Community College with my A.A degree. I joined PRSSA my first semester and loved it! I wanted to learn more about the PR world to see if it would be right for me. I enjoyed everything I learned and experienced with this Chapter, and can’t wait for another year as an Eboard member.

Managing Editor—Sara Seng

SaraHello everyone! My name is Sara Seng and I am a senior at Salem State University who is hopelessly in love with fashion, writing, and creativity.  I’m a communications major with a concentration in public relations and a minor in marketing.  I joined PRSSA last year and have loved it ever since!  Not only am I learning hands on material about PR, but I am also learning them with a group of awesome peers who have ultimately become my friends as well.  My hope for the future is to become involved in the PR aspect of the fashion industry.  I’m a strong believer that fashion is in everyone and in everything and that each version of it deserves its own spotlight.

Besides being a full time student trying to pursue my dreams, you can always catch me at a concert with friends. As much as I adore fashion, I have an enormous amount of love for music as well.

If you love fashion, music, or just reading the random thoughts that come across a college student’s mind, feel free to follow me on Twitter @sara_seng! Or even shoot me an email at saraxseng@gmail.com!
